Terms of Service

Last updated: February 19, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Pocket Judge ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service. We may update these Terms at any time, and your continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of any changes.

2. Description of Service

Pocket Judge is a deterministic rules engine for Magic: The Gathering that provides rulings based on the official Comprehensive Rules. The Service is provided for informational and entertainment purposes. While we strive for accuracy, Pocket Judge is not a substitute for an official tournament judge and rulings may not always be correct for every edge case.

3. User Accounts

You may create an account to access additional features such as issue tracking and the Developer Drawing. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to update your information as necessary.

You must be at least 13 years of age to create an account. If you are under 18, you represent that your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.

4. User-Generated Content

When you submit dispute reports, corrections, or other feedback ("User Content"), you grant Pocket Judge a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, modify, and incorporate that content to improve the Service. This includes using your reported issues to fix and improve the rules engine. You retain ownership of your User Content, but acknowledge that improvements made to the engine based on your feedback become part of the Service.

5. Developer Drawing

Pocket Judge may offer periodic drawings ("Developer Drawing") where users can earn entries by reporting confirmed issues. Eligibility, entry requirements, prizes, and drawing frequency are at the sole discretion of Pocket Judge and may change at any time. Drawing prizes will only be shipped to the mailing address on file in your account. Pocket Judge is not responsible for lost, stolen, or undeliverable prizes. No purchase is necessary to participate; void where prohibited by law.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to submit false or misleading dispute reports, attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or other users' accounts, use automated scripts or bots to access the Service in a manner that degrades performance for other users, or engage in any activity that violates applicable law or infringes on the rights of others.

7. Intellectual Property

Pocket Judge, including its engine, interface, and documentation, is the intellectual property of its creators. Magic: The Gathering is a trademark of Wizards of the Coast LLC. Pocket Judge is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Wizards of the Coast. Card names, oracle text, and game mechanics referenced by the Service are used for informational purposes under fair use.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that rulings will be 100% accurate.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Pocket Judge and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim arising from the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Service in the twelve months preceding the claim, or $50 USD, whichever is greater.

10. Account Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time for any reason, including but not limited to violation of these Terms, abusive behavior, or submission of false dispute reports. You may delete your account at any time through the account settings page. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately.

11. Dispute Resolution

Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall first be addressed through good-faith negotiation. If a resolution cannot be reached, disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association, conducted in the State of Texas.

12. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

13. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time by posting revised Terms on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Material changes will be communicated through the Service. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
