How to Ask a Question

Type any rules question in plain English using the text box below. For the most accurate results, wrap each card name in [brackets] so the engine can identify and look up the exact cards involved. Without brackets, the engine may not detect your cards correctly and could return an inaccurate ruling.

Example: "If I control [Panharmonicon] and [Thassa, Deep-Dwelling] blinks a creature, does the ETB trigger twice?"
Example: "Can my opponent cast [Counterspell] while [Teferi, Time Raveler] is on the battlefield under my control?"
Example: "If [Blood Artist] is on the battlefield and I cast [Wrath of God], does Blood Artist trigger for each creature that dies?"

Tips for Best Results

📃 Click card names — After receiving a ruling, click any card name in the response to view the full card image pulled directly from Scryfall. This helps you verify oracle text and double-check the interaction.

Report incorrect rulings — If the engine gives you a wrong answer, use the Report Incorrect Ruling button below any response. Our development team reviews every single submission and implements fixes to improve the engine. Your feedback directly makes Pocket Judge better for the entire community.

🔍 Card name not found? Due to intellectual property licensing restrictions, some cards printed with alternate-universe names (such as Rick, Steadfast Leader from the Secret Lair Walking Dead series) are not available under those names in our card database. To look up these cards, use the official in-universe Magic name instead. For example, use Greymond, Avacyn's Stalwart instead of Rick, Steadfast Leader.

🃏 Use the Add Card button — If you're not sure of the exact card name or spelling, click the Add Card button next to the text input to search our database and insert the correct card name with brackets automatically.

⚠ Don't Forget Card Brackets!

It looks like your question mentions card names without [brackets] around them. The engine uses brackets to identify cards — without them, results may not be accurate.

Example: Instead of "Does Lightning Bolt kill Tarmogoyf", try:
Does [Lightning Bolt] kill [Tarmogoyf]
